With a fixed rate, you pay the same price for the entire term of your energy contract (usually one year). This price offers you security, which means you pay a higher risk premium.
With a variable rate, the price is not known at the time you sign the contract, but is fixed monthly or quarterly. In this case, you pay a moderate risk premium.
With a dynamic rate, the price is fixed only one day in advance and can vary hourly. These rates typically have a lower risk premium.
Although the type of energy contract is always up to you, dynamic pricing is recommended to get the most out of FlexiO. This is because the system ensures that you inject or store power at the most advantageous times, leading to additional savings on top of your initial investment.
With a fixed or variable rate, you also benefit from differences between day and night rates, but these are often not significant enough to put your battery to work and save on your energy bill.
For more info on dynamic pricing, see here.
We do not offer an energy contract. But with a dynamic contract, you can always use Luminus, Bolt or other energy suppliers. Take VREG’s V-test for more info on the different options.
FlexiO optimises your energy consumption by automatically storing power when prices are low and using it or return it to the grid when prices are high. This happens completely automatically without you having to do anything.
FlexiO makes choices based on your energy rate. If you have a dynamic rate, the algorithm will use power when it is cheapest and inject it when it is most expensive.
If the platform does not know that you have a dynamic rate, it will wrongly assume that you have a fixed or variable rate. As a result, it will make less efficient decisions, preventing you from getting the most out of FlexiO. Moreover, the savings shown are directly linked to your specific rate.
It is very important to set your energy rate correctly on our platform. During installation, our installer will do this for you. Have you changed your energy rate in the meantime? It is important that you adjust this.
Go to Device Details and click on NEW CONFIGURATION to adjust your energy rate.
If you have a fixed rate, you will have to enter the effective energy price. This is the price excluding network charges, levies and taxes (6%).
If you have a separate injection rate, complete our contact form so we can take care of this.
Once you have entered the correct rate, click on SUBMIT to save your setting.
